The complexity of decisions. The duality of nature. The balance of choice
As I walk through the dimly lit hallway, I find myself in isolation. Cold and alone. I make my way through the never ending hall. I am closer and closer to the heart of the darkness. Suddenly, I stop. Everything stops.
In front of me lies a row of scales. Scales of varying purpose and varying importance. Each more daunting than the last.
In front of me lies a row of scales. Scales of varying purpose and varying importance. Each more daunting than the last.
One scale bears heavy bronze masses. As the scale tips to one side, I find myself in a glowing meadow… the calm push of the stream carrying my weight and the chirping of the birds filling my soul. Not a care in the world. The scale tips to the other side and I find myself at home. A torn notebook in one hand and a calendar in the other, with the compounding nature of daily disappointments frowning at me. Responsibility.
On one scale lies a bundle of rainbow colored masses; each color brighter than the last. The scale tips to one side and I’m consoling him. “It’ll be all right” I say. I’ve aways supported his decisions. Why would I stop now? The scale tips to the other side and I begin to question his choices. He deserved what had happened to him. At least now he might learn his lesson. Reality.
One one scale lies a pile of thinly cut masses. Light in nature but Dark when forced together. The scale tips to one side and I provide them with comfort, an obstacle that will heal their toils but inhibit their growth. The scale tips to the other side and I give them a suggestion. They may not like it but it will aid them through tough times and ground them in tougher. Duty.
Suddenly, a sound pierces the dense air. I turn. the lights begin to turn back on. The air is warmer. The carpet feels softer. The scales are now behind me.
